Hispanic Scholarship Fund winners

Three current UNT students and a recent graduate of UNT's Texas Academy of Mathematics and Science recently won scholarships from the national Hispanic Scholarship Fund.

Yvette Quepons, a senior advertising major; Gabriela Serrano, a doctoral student in English; Carlos Gámez Jr., a senior music education major; and Jemma Alarcon, who graduated from TAMS May 13, received awards ranging from $1,100 to $2,500.

HSF was founded in 1975 to double the rate of Hispanic students earning college degrees.

The agency's college scholarships are open to students of Hispanic heritage who are U.S. citizens or legal permanent residents and who have completed at least 12 academic hours meeting certain grade point average requirements.
