JACQUELINE VANHOUTTE, assistant professor of English, presented "Gender and Nation in Shakespeare's History Plays" at the Shakespeare Association of America conference, March 23 in Minneapolis. EUGENE WRIGHT, professor of English, was invited to speak about his novel Run, Run as Fast as You Can and about writing in general at the Afternoon With the Arts, Tarrant County College-Northwest, April 3 in Fort Worth.

SARAH LAW KENNERLY, 92, Professor Emeritus of library and information sciences, died April 19 at Denton Good Samaritan Village nursing center. She taught at North Texas for 26 years, retiring in 1977. She was born in Winnsboro, S.C., and was a graduate of Winthrop College in Rock Hill, S.C. She earned a master of library science degree from Emory University and a doctorate from the University of Michigan. In 1989 she received the first Distinguished Faculty Award from the School of Library and Information Sciences. A memorial service was held May 8 at the Goolsby Chapel on campus.
