Regents don't change admissions
policy
Actions
at the May 17 meeting of the UNT System Board of Regents included approval
of a 2003 admissions policy that continues support for automatic acceptance
to the top 25 percent of Texas high school graduates.
In other
actions, the regents:
- Approved
promotions and/or tenure for 45 faculty members and granted tenure to
three new faculty appointees. University policy stipulates that the
university president may recommend immediate tenure in cases involving
senior faculty with outstanding reputations
and usually with tenure elsewhere
who are being recruited by UNT. Click here
for a complete listing of those individuals.
- Approved
faculty development leaves for 32 professors.
- Accepted
a faculty workload report certifying to the Texas Higher Education Coordinating
Board that UNT is complying with minimum standard workload requirements.
- Approved
15 holidays for 2002-03. In addition, regents approved closing the university
two additional days in March to allow utility savings for the entire
week of Spring Break. Staff members must use vacation or compensatory
leave for those days. Five optional state holidays were also approved.
Employees may observe one or more of these days by substituting vacation
or compensatory leave for one or more of the 15 university holidays
or by working on one or more of the university holidays, with supervisory
approval.
