UNT plans
second annual beautification day
For UNT,
spring cleaning means the second annual Great UNT Campus Beautification
and Cleanup Day. This event, in conjunction with the national Great American
Cleanup observance, is designed to build community spirit by bringing
UNT students, faculty, staff and administrators together to enhance the
appearance of campus.

Cleanup
continues at Clark Hall following small fire
A
small but intense electrical fire in the early hours of March 6 knocked
out all power and air conditioning to Clark Hall and inundated the residence
hall and cafeteria with smoke.

Spring brings
Texas severe weather season 
Spring
in Texas means bluebonnets, warm days and, unfortunately, unwelcome menaces
in the sky tornadoes.
An average of 118 tornadoes touch down in Texas each year, with more than
half occurring in April, May and June, according to the Texas Almanac.

Regents approve
honorary degree, authorize new athletic center completion
Highlights
of the Feb. 12 UNT System Board of Regents meeting ranged from approving
an honorary degree for renowned poet Maya Angelou to authorizing the renovation
of additional space at the UNT Research Park for the College of Engineering.
The regents also approved needed repairs on retaining walls and walkways
around the Coliseum.

The Division
of University Relations, Communications and Marketing recently won three
Admission Marketing Report annual awards. The URCM-produced undergraduate
search piece was recognized with a gold award, the high school recruiting
poster earned a silver honor, and the UNT undergraduate catalog garnered
a merit award.
