The
festivities for University Day will begin at 11:30 a.m. in the Shrader
Pavilion, with greetings from Howard Johnson, provost and vice president
for academic affairs, and Euline Brock, The event will include musical performances, booths and carnival games until 2 p.m.
Admission is free, but lunch costs $2.50. This year
the Alumni Appreciation Luncheon will honor 50 graduates recognized by
their departments as outstanding alumni. The luncheon will begin at noon
in the University Union Silver Eagle Suite and will be hosted by President
Norval Pohl. The price of the luncheon is $10, and the banquet is $40. Luncheon tickets can be purchased at the University Union Information Center, the Office of Development in the Gateway Center or by calling (940) 565-2900. Tickets for the alumni banquet can be purchased in the Office of Development. Another awards ceremony will be held to recognize students, faculty and staff for their achievements during Honors Day, which begins at 3 p.m. in the Murchison Performing Arts Center's Winspear Hall. Mickey Burnim, chancellor of Elizabeth City State University and 1972 North Texas alumnus, will be the featured speaker.
