UNT Vision forums completed

The second of two forums designed to identify strategies for realizing the UNT Vision for 2015 was held March 1 in the University Union Lyceum.

In May last year the UNT Board of Regents approved the vision statement, noting that it challenges the university to become a top-tier institution of higher education. Two forums designed to address key issues that affect UNT. Academic and administrative units have been charged to come up with other examles of how they will work to help UNT achieve its vision.

The February forum focused on academic issues, including the role of distributed learning, enhancing scholarship and professional activity, program development and graduate student education.

The March 1 forum focused on campus life issues, including the changing demographics of the student body, the financial needs of disadvantaged students, the challenges of creating a more residential campus and the creation of a service-oriented, welcoming environment for all members of the university community.

Both forums addressed the role of UNT as a flagship, the UNT System, the campus master plan and a summary of statewide initiatives. A detailed overview of the first forum is now available at www.unt.edu/springvision and a complete overview of the second forum will be available on the web site by mid March.
