Regents approve senior vice president appointment

In an April 30 teleconference meeting, the UNT System Board of Regents confirmed Richard Rafes as UNT senior vice president for administration. Regents also authorized advanced preparation for the construction of a residence hall and a dining facility on the university's Eagle Point Campus (the former Eagle Point Golf Course).

UNT parking permits for 2003-04 now for sale through intercampus mail

UNT faculty and staff have until Aug. 8 to purchase parking permits for 2003-04 through intercampus mail.

Two UNT programs ranked high this year by U.S. News and World Report

UNT scored twice among graduate programs ranked this year by U.S. News and World Report. The master's and doctoral programs in counseling, part of the Department of Counseling, Development and Higher Education, were ranked in the top 20, and the master of fine arts program in art and design was listed among the nation's top 50. Both are top-tier rankings.

Elm Fork Education Center to conduct summer camps

Again this summer, UNT will offer the Elm Fork Explorers Camp for students entering second through eighth grades. The science camp will take place Mondays through Fridays June 9-27 and will be based at UNT's Elm Fork Education Center in the Environmental Education, Science and Technology Building. The registration deadline for the program is June 1.

Staff Council holds its final meeting of the 2002-03 academic year

Staff Council members heard a report regarding the Student Recreation Center, learned about the proposed holiday schedule for 2003-04 and discussed ways to improve communication with staff members during the group's final meeting of the academic year May 7.

Tips to help control mosquitoes

Summertime is quickly approaching. With it will come one of summer's most familiar pests mosquitoes. And with mosquitoes comes the threat of West Nile virus.

James Kennedy, professor of biological sciences and an aquatic entomologist, and biology graduate student Bethany Bolling are experts on the spread of the virus, which garnered national attention last summer as it spread across the South and Southwest.
