UNT parking fees going up for 2002-03 academic year

carIn a recent phone meeting, the UNT System Board of Regents voted to approve an increase in parking permit fees for the 2002-03 academic year.

Fred Pole, UNT System vice chancellor for administration and UNT vice president for administrative affairs, says the recommended increases established by a committee comprised of faculty, staff and student representatives are necessary to maintain current parking and transportation operations.

"They also will help us expand on-campus transportation and continue to add capacity to the university's inventory of parking spaces," Pole says.

The approved rates increase faculty/staff general permits from the current $99 to $105. Faculty/staff reserved permits increase from $162 to $200. Residential student rates go from $110 to $135, and commuter student rates will go up from $94 to $125.

Pole says a parking survey conducted in Fall 2001 by the Office of Police and Traffic indicates UNT's new faculty/staff parking fees are still below comparable fees at other major universities in Texas.
