TRIO Center for Student Development

The TRIO Center for Student Development was established in 1984 for the primary purpose of developing, implementing and administering programs designed to meet the unique educational needs of special population students.

Talent Search, Upward Bound, Upward Bound Math and Science, Student Support Services (Discovery) and the Ronald E. McNair Post-Baccalaureate Achievement Program are the five TRIO programs funded by the U.S. Department of Education, supported by UNT and housed within the College of Education. These programs are offered at no cost to participants, who must qualify according to economic guidelines set by the US Department of Education or be in the first generation of their family to obtain a four-year college degree.

The center brings more than $1 million in grant revenue to UNT while working with approximately 1,500 student per year.
