Goven named interim vice provost for research Art Goven

Biological sciences professor Art Goven was named interim vice provost for research by the UNT System Board of Regents during the board's May 4 meeting.

He fills the seat that will be left open by Rollie Schafer when Schafer begins modified service at the end of the summer. Goven will oversee the research office on an interim basis while a search is conducted during the next academic year.

Goven, a well-known researcher in the field of ecotoxicology, has served as vice chair of the Faculty Senate and served three years as executive assistant to the chancellor.

Goven will serve half time in the research office this summer as special assistant to the vice provost for research, assisting Schafer and the research office with the transition to new leadership.
