Thanks for the special day

To the UNT family,

When the idea of an inauguration first came forward, I was concerned about an event that would focus solely on me.

However, thanks to you, I realized my inauguration was an event for everyone connected to UNT and I got energized by your excitement and enthusiasm.

The student party on May 3 and inaugural ceremony on May 4 generated memories that my wife, Barbikay, and I will cherish for the rest of our lives.

My heartfelt thanks goes to all faculty and staff who served on the various inaugural committees, volunteered for inaugural activities and participated in or attended the ceremony.

I also want to thank the outstanding faculty and amazingly talented students from the College of Music for their special contributions to the ceremony.

The visions I shared in my inaugural address were just a sampling of what I believe we can achieve by 2015. As I move forward in my presidency, I hope I will have the opportunity to meet more of you to say thanks and to enlist your help in "shaping our future."
