SULLIVANT CENTER

PERTINENT FACTS

At the February 2001 meeting, the Board of Regents approved the purchase of the MARC property at 1700 Wilshire. That purchase was completed on March 30. The highest and best use of this property is to renovate it for use by the Police, Parking and Transportation Department currently housed in the Sullivant Visitor Center. Following the move, the vacated building will be renovated and assigned to the College of Music. The family of the late Judge Carroll Fulton Sullivant for whom the building was named, has requested that the Sullivant name accompany the Police, Parking and Transportation Department in their move to the recently purchased MARC property. The current Sullivant Center will be renamed at a later date prior to completion of its renovation and occupancy by the College of Music.

The services of an architect will be required to assist in the programming of the space and the preparation of construction documents of the purchased building. A Request for Qualifications (RFQ) was issued and nine firms responded. Their qualifications were reviewed and the top two were selected for further review; each submitted their proposed design team and were interviewed. The two firms listed below are recommended and are listed in order of preference. Both are qualified and acceptable to the administration.

    1. AGUIRREcorporation
    2. Vidaud + Associates
