Fall 2005 final exam schedule established

The university recently announced the final exam schedule for Fall 2005. The two-week period for pre-finals and finals will begin Dec. 3 and end Dec. 16.

The schedule is available at essc.unt.edu/registrar/fall/final.htm, where you also will find additional information about the 2005-06 academic calendar.

Joneel Harris, associate vice president for enrollment management, said UNT published the 2005-06 academic calendar without the specific exam schedule details so university planners would have the flexibility to accommodate participation in a bowl game, if the need should arise, without causing any upheaval for students, faculty and staff.

"Supporting our students' academic pursuits is the university's top priority," Harris says.

UNT officials worked with the Greater New Orleans Sports Foundation to set a date for the New Orleans Bowl — the bowl game in which the Sun Belt Conference champion meets a Conference USA opponent — that would not conflict with UNT's final exam schedule.

UNT and all other members of the Sun Belt Conference and Conference USA were informed of the New Orleans Bowl game date May 5. The game, which will be broadcast by ESPN, is scheduled for 7 p.m. Dec. 20 in the Louisiana Superdome.
