Six faculty recognized at UNT's annual Honors Day celebration

Six faculty members were recognized during the Honors Day celebration April 16 for their contributions to the university. Each spring, UNT honors its students for academic excellence and presents faculty with student-awarded honors for service to the UNT community and high-quality teaching.

Five faculty members were chosen as Student Government Association Honor Professors Eugene Corporon, wind studies director and Regents Professor of music; Rosalia Dutra, lecturer in linguistics; Sharon Rae Jenkins, associate professor of psychology; James Laney, professor of teacher education and administration; and Ian Parberry, professor of computer science and engineering.

Brian Bowman, director of the Brass Band and professor of music, received the 'Fessor Graham Award, the highest honor given by the student body. Named for the late Professor Floyd Graham, the award is presented to a faculty member for outstanding and unselfish service to students.
