Words of inspiration — U.S. Sen. Kay Bailey Hutchison spoke to UNT graduates and their families during the spring commencement general convocation on May 8. About 2,000 UNT students received degrees during three ceremonies that day.

Six faculty members were recognized during the Honors Day celebration April 16 for their contributions to the university. Each spring, UNT honors its students for academic excellence and presents faculty with student-awarded honors for service to the UNT community and high-quality teaching.

Se habla Español — UNT offered its first campus tour given entirely in Spanish to prospective students on May 6. Eagle Ambassador Carolina Araoz, a senior jazz studies student from Lima, Peru, led about 20 students on the first tour.

UNT prepares to welcome area youth for National Youth Sports Program

About 300 Denton County preteens and teens will visit UNT this summer to combine basic instruction of organized sports with classes on alcohol and drug abuse prevention, math and science, higher education, nutrition and other topics.
