I am standing between the Business Administration Building and the Physics Building. It looks like vehicles have been trying to go up the sidewalk and have gotten their wheels over the side, making a rut and getting mud and water up on the sidewalk where the students have to go around it. It looks terrible. I think we ought to keep the vehicles out of there. Plus, there are a couple of oak trees right over here (beside the Radio, Television, Film and Performing Arts Building) that look like they haven't been watered in a long time and one of them is dead. And then those hollies that are around that new parking lot at Bruce Hall and on the northwest corner of Bruce cafeteria somebody put a soaker hose down on the ground but never turned it on, looks like, and they're all dead. If you count that much money up, that's a little chunk of change. Sorry for the complaint, but it looks like y'all have some needs there. Thank you. Response from Richard Rafes, vice chancellor and general counsel and interim vice chancellor for administration for the UNT System and interim vice president for administration for UNT: Your concerns regarding the unsightly ruts beside the sidewalks between the BA Building and Physics Building are justified, and we are making an effort to stop traffic from driving on the inner campus areas.
The oak trees planted at the north end of the RTFP mall were watered regularly, but unfortunately one was lost. The loss of the tree was not due to neglect, and we plan to replace it at a suitable time of year. The holly bushes were planted to create a buffer around the new parking area at Bruce Hall. We were not successful in keeping them alive during the summer and have since removed them and planted a group of native (drought-resistant) plants in the same area to make the landscaping attractive.
