UNT awards Learning Enhancement grants

Several UNT programs have money coming their way. Howard Johnson, provost and vice president for academic affairs, has allocated Learning Enhancement Grant Awards for 2004-05, giving a total of $150,000 to 11 programs. The highest amount, $32,000, went to the College of Business Administration, for Developing the Online MBA Core: A Prelude to Program Offering in 2005-2006. For a complete award list, click here.

Formal letters of award were delivered to recipients earlier this semester.

The grants support projects designed to enhance learning, specifically interdisciplinary and multidisciplinary instruction, and the use of technology to improve the learning experience. Grant funding comes from the Provost's Office.

"This program gives our very talented faculty an opportunity to bring their creative talents directly into the classroom to enhance the learning experiences of our students," Johnson says."

Johnson issued a request for proposals last fall and received 18 proposals totaling $383,784. A six-person subcommittee of faculty representatives from the Center for Distributed Learning Steering Committee evaluated each proposal.
