UNT System Board of Regents approves sale of bonds to finance new residence hall

During a teleconference Oct. 23, the UNT System Board of Regents approved the sale of bonds to fund construction of a new residence hall. The sale is not to exceed $10 million.

The hall will be adjacent to Santa Fe Square on the west side of campus. Work on the more than 300-bed hall is slated to begin in November or December with completion planned by Fall 2003.

"Student demand for on-campus housing has reached a point where we believe the need for more beds will be sustained for the foreseeable future," says Phil Diebel, UNT vice president for finance and business affairs and UNT System vice chancellor for finance and business affairs. Diebel says the university plans to add more housing in 2004.
