UNT using UNT Dallas Campus name for System Center

UNT has begun using the pseudonym UNT Dallas Campus to market the UNT System Center at Dallas. The legal name for the center remains unchanged.

The university sought the permission of Texas Higher Education Coordinating Board staff to use a different name in order to raise awareness and promote enrollment because use of the term "System Center" confused the public.

"People know UNT has a presence in southern Dallas, but they don't know what a system center is," says Deborah Leliaert, UNT vice president for university relations and UNT System associate vice chancellor for marketing and communications. "We needed language that would communicate that UNT has a physical presence in Dallas where we offer academic programs taught by our faculty and where students earn UNT degrees."
