UNT Student Recreation Center wins national honor

The Department of Rehabilitation, Social Work and Addictions received the Rehabilitation Services Administration Commissioner's Award for Excellence in Rehabilitation Education and Training on Oct. 26 in Washington, D.C.

The award was presented at the annual training conference of three organizations — the Rehabilitation Services Administration, the National Council on Rehabilitation Education and the Council of State Administrators of Vocational Rehabilitation.

The department received the award specifically for its work in the Consortium for Distance Education in Rehabilitation and the Region VI Community Rehabilitation Program-Regional Continuing Education program.

To be considered for the award, nominees must have demonstrated an innovative approach to education and training, strong collaboration with other partners in the rehabilitation system and effectiveness in their method toward rehabilitation education.

Linda Holloway and Rodney Isom, associate professors of rehabilitation, social work and addictions, accepted the plaque on behalf of the department.

Editor's note: Send information about your department's recent state, district, national or international award to inhouse@unt.edu.
