UNT faculty and staff can now show off their Mean Green spirit every time they make a purchase. UNT employees and students with Wells Fargo bank accounts can use their Mean Green ID card, which features Scrappy on the front, as both a debit and ATM card. The card can also be used at dozens of Denton stores that accept charges with a personal identification number. Some merchants are offering discounts to those using the Mean Green card for payment. "Just look for the signs that say 'Your Mean Green Card Accepted Here,'" says Susan Sims, assistant manager in Student Accounting and University Cashiering Services. "It's in store windows just like MasterCard and Visa stickers." Wells Fargo has instituted similar programs at Texas Tech and Texas A&M universities. Student Huma Quazi in the University Communications and Marketing office designed the card, which can also be used at Student Accounting and University Cashiering Services, the Student Health and Wellness Center, the library fines desk in Willis Library, the University Union and athletic events. Sims says since the cards feature a picture ID, they provide extra security for those using them as debit cards. To get a Mean Green card, visit the ID Systems office in the Eagle Student Services Center, Room 105. Office hours are 8:15 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday. Cards can also be made for students, faculty and staff at the UNT Dallas Campus. To link your card to your Wells Fargo checking account, visit any branch location of the bank. The process takes a few minutes and the card becomes active immediately. The university branch of Wells Fargo is on the third level of the University Union and is open from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday.
