seeking nominations for annual alumni awards
The
selection process for the 2002 alumni awards has begun. The recipients
will be recognized at the Alumni Awards Dinner on April 12. Faculty
and staff members who want to nominate alumni or friends of the university
must fill out a nomination form and return it to the Office of Development
by 5 p.m. Nov. 30.

Suggestions
to preserve security at UNT
As we
all continue to cope with the aftermath of the tragic events of Sept.
11, we've been asked to provide several suggestions for increasing security
and our own vigilance in handling "day-to-day" activities. Take
a moment to consider each of the following ideas and discuss them with
your co-workers:
Mail safety
tips: Ways to protect yourself
Every
day Texans flip through millions of pieces of mail that arrive at their
homes or offices. Until recently, it was a chore to which few gave a second
thought. Though Texas Department of Health officials report that no anthrax
bacteria has been found in any Texas cases involving suspicious letters
or packages, it is wise for Texans to learn how to spot and react to mail
that could be harmful.
Staff awards presented at sack lunch
Several
staff members were recognized at the President's Staff Sack Lunch Oct.

Senate heard reports from UNT System Chancellor Alfred F. Hurley, UNT
President Norval Pohl and Phil Diebel, vice president for finance and
business affairs, during the senate's meeting Oct. 10.
