Several staff members were honored at the President's Staff Sack Lunch Oct. 26. Outstanding staff awards were presented to Helen Bailey, Facilities Planning; Alberta Caswell, Materials Science and Engineering; Austin Laird, Computing and Information Technology Center; Troylyn J. Leforge, Student Development; and Mary Roby, Identification Systems. Outstanding department awards went to Grounds Maintenance, the Center for Distributed Learning, and Purchasing and Payment Services. Soaring Eagles, nominated by their peers for outstanding customer service, and Star Performers, nominated for outstanding performance in their departments, were also recognized. UNT President Norval Pohl addressed questions submitted by the audience concerning the prices of food sold in the University Union; moving the telecommunications department to the Research Park; Mean Green football game times; the lack of hot water in the Chilton Hall restrooms; plans for a UNT day-care center; health benefits costs; parking garage construction; the Enterprise Information System; services at the Research Park; online registration for student orientation; and the timing of student funding credits being released to students.
