UNT celebrates 50th anniversary of desegregation with gala, online scrapbook

In 2004, the university will commemorate desegregation with a yearlong observance, 50 Years of Progress and Opportunity, 1954-2004, to recognize UNT's pioneers of desegregation and to honor the results of their efforts.

The governor named Rice M. Tilley Jr. of Fort Worth as UNT's newest regent and reappointed Gayle W. Strange of Denton and Robert A. Nickell of Irving, both UNT alumni, to new terms on the board.
