Several
UNT staff members were honored at the annual Staff Convocation Sept. 29
in the University Union Lyceum. In addition, Doug Welch, Risk Management and Environmental Services, was recognized for earning the title of certified risk manager one of only 10 certified risk managers at universities in the United States and the only one at a Texas university. Three awards that historically have been presented to staff during the Honors Day awards ceremony were instead presented during the Staff Convocation. Kristin McMeen, Human Resources, was presented with the UNT Community Award; Dallas Newell, Enrollment Management, received the Special Recognition Award; and Judy Morris, TRIO Center for Student Development, was honored with the President's Award. The recipients of Outstanding Staff Awards and Outstanding Department Awards, who were named throughout the year, were also recognized at the convocation. UNT President Norval Pohl gave a presentation on the challenges facing UNT over the next several years, and Richard Rafes, senior vice president for administration, gave a presentation about growth and upcoming projects at UNT.
