Few people who commute regularly to the UNT campus are unaware of the parking and transportation issues that exist. Now those people faculty, staff and students are being asked to participate in a survey to help indicate specific opinions and needs regarding those issues. Faculty and staff members received the 26-question survey earlier this month and should return it by Oct. 24 to the Office of Institutional Research and Accreditation, Hurley Administration Building, Room 121, either by hand or via intercampus mail. All completed surveys will be included in a prize drawing in early November for a free "D" parking permit. Through the survey, the University Police Department and the Transportation and Parking Office hope to learn the expense and conditions associated with faculty and staff commutes to the university; evaluate the e-trans system; and determine the feasibility of building a multi-deck parking facility near the center of campus. The survey includes queries about the length of daily commutes to UNT, the cost associated with those daily commutes, alternate means of transportation to UNT available to survey participants, whether participants would be willing to pay more for a guaranteed space available in a parking garage and the amount they would be willing to pay. Other questions allow participants to rate the e-trans bus service and rank their payment preference for on-campus parking. Survey results should be completed before the end of the 2003 calendar year.
