Academic Kickoff promotes higher education

About 500 high school and community college students got a taste of UNT during the fifth annual Academic Kickoff Oct. 14.

Students attended workshops on admissions, financial aid, campus life and making the most of the college experience. They also received free admission to UNT's Homecoming football game against Utah State that day.

Robert Guzman, assistant director of admissions, says the academic kickoff is an outreach program. "The program promotes higher education. Many of the high school students have not thought of going to college," he says.

For more information on the program, contact the admissions office at 565-4932.
