Interim title holders named to positions permanently

For the past two years, Joneel Harris and Lynn McCreary have served as interim associate vice president for enrollment management and interim registrar, respectively. UNT administrators decided to make their appointments permanent as of Sept. 1.

"The decision to remove the interim titles was made by the central administration because of the excellent performance of Dr. Harris and Ms. McCreary during their interim appointments," says David Kesterson, provost and vice president for academic affairs. "This decision did not need approval by the UNT Board of Regents."

Harris and McCreary are UNT alumnae. Before being named associate vice president for enrollment management, Harris held the title of registrar for 20 years and worked with McCreary for most of that time.

"I look forward to continuing my work with the enrollment management committee, faculty, staff and community leaders to ensure that UNT remains the leading university in this region," Harris says.

McCreary came to North Texas as a freshman in 1974. While working on her master's degree in 1980, she took a job in the registrar's office.

"I remember when Denton had 30,000 people now UNT alone has 30,000 students. I'm really excited for this opportunity to serve the university community," she says.
