Student development faculty, staff have new way to demonstrate UNT pride

In connection with Friday Pride Day wearing green on Fridays to show support for UNT the Staff Development Committee within the Division of Student Development has implemented TGIF, a spirit contest that stands for Think Green, It's Friday.

The contest will determine which office in the division has the most school spirit on Fridays. Offices can participate by coming up with creative, spirited ways to take part in the contest, like decorating office space with a Mean Green theme and wearing green clothing.

"We thought it would be a great way to promote spirit within the division," says Elizabeth With, associate vice president for student development and coordinator of the contest.

The first winner was chosen in late September, and there will be one TGIF winner chosen in October and one in November. The day of judging is not being publicized in order to encourage spirit every Friday.

"We want the campus to look green all the time," With says.

A pizza party will be thrown for each winning office, and photographs of the winners will be featured on the InHouse web site, including September's winner. Each office is only eligible to win once. With says judges known for their school pride were chosen from many levels of the UNT community, from vice presidents to students.
