It's time to say good-bye to the Club at College Inn and hello to the Club at Gateway Center. The student-run restaurant opens its doors at its new facilities in the Gateway Center Oct. 15. The new club features a $500,000 state-of-the-art kitchen with a variety of ovens and steamers, as well as a new expanded dining area, which is part of a grand ballroom and conference center. The new club is expected to accommodate 150 people, but the entire ballroom can potentially hold 500. "It's still going to have a wonderful meal at a great price," says Cynthia Simons, general manager of the club and lecturer in the School of Merchandising and Hospitality Management, who supervises the students at the club. "But now guests get to enter a set of double doors into a beautiful foyer with comfortable seating." The restaurant, part of UNT's hospitality management program, was established in 1987 to give students real-life restaurant experience while offering the community fine dining in a casual setting. Students from two courses the Dining Room Service and Management course and the Quantity Food Production and Management course work together to run every aspect of the restaurant, from dishwashing and serving customers to planning budgets and preparing meals. Guests get a three-course meal for $6.50. The club seats customers for lunch from 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays. Season tickets can be purchased for $52.65 through the club. Reservations may be made at 565-4144 or via e-mail at GatewayClub@unt.edu.
