Center. Meningitis, flu vaccinations available to UNT community Oct. 18 UNT is
planning a Meningitis and Flu Immunization Outreach Program Oct. 18 to
vaccinate members of the UNT community against meningitis and the flu.
The program is from 1 to 7 p.m. in the Silver Eagle Suite of the University
Union.

Senate held its first meeting of the academic year Sept. 12. Hispanic Heritage Month continues at UNT through Oct. 15 Since mid-September, UNT has celebrated Hispanic Heritage Month with events aimed at highlighting the history, tradition and culture of the Hispanic people.
Many parents do their best to prepare their teen-agers for college life before they leave home. They discuss finances, classes, academic responsibility and housing. Students often arrive at college with a strong sense of family beliefs and values regarding alcohol consumption. However, we know that the availability of alcohol combined with the absence of parents and the desire to fit in can lead to potentially risky decisions about drinking. It is essential for parents, faculty and staff members to check in with students frequently and to be supportive.
UNT researchers to study businesses after tragedies After the
1993 bombing of New York City's World Trade Center, emergency management
officials worked with business professionals in and around the center,
preparing them for future disasters. Hurley hosts retreat for leaders of urban universities As co-chair of the Coalition of Urban and Metropolitan Universities, UNT System Chancellor Alfred F. Hurley hosted a working retreat for the chancellors and presidents of five of the coalition's member universities Sept. 21 at the Hyatt Regency DFW. The universities
in the coalition share the mission of striving for national excellence
while they contribute to the economic development, social health and cultural
vitality of the urban and metropolitan areas they serve.
