The five awards for which nominations are being sought are the Distinguished Alumnus/Alumna Award, the Green Glory Award, the Honorary Alumnus/Alumna Award, the Outstanding Alumnus/Alumna Service Award and the Ulys Knight Spirit Award. With the exception of the Ulys Knight Spirit Award, alumni or friends who are associated with the university, its governing board, the state government, or state regulatory boards or agencies should be nominated only after they no longer hold these positions. The Distinguished Alumnus/Alumna Award is given to a UNT graduate who achieved distinction in his or her profession and has made significant contributions to society, therefore bringing credit to UNT. The Green Glory Award is presented to a person whose assistance to the university has enabled it to have "a substantial margin of excellence in its endeavors," according to the official 2005 Alumni Awards nomination form. The recipient may or may not be an alumnus or alumna of the university. The Honorary Alumnus/Alumna Award goes to an individual whose devotion to UNT is obvious but who has never attended the university. The Outstanding Alumnus/Alumna Service Award recognizes exemplary service to the university or accomplishments on its behalf by an alumnus or alumna in a volunteer capacity during the preceding year. The Ulys Knight Spirit Award is given to an alumnus, alumna or group of individuals affiliated with UNT who have shown spirit and enthusiasm as they contribute time and energy to a program or activity that has benefited the university family. All nominations for the awards must be made on official nomination forms. For more information, contact the Office of Development at (940) 565-2900.
