Ben E. Keith continues scholarship with $6,700 gift Floyd Warner of Ben E. Keith Co. has donated $6,700 to the School of Merchandising and Hospitality Management. The gift continues the company's 15 years of support to maintain the Ben E. Keith and the Hospitality Board of Governors scholarships. Part of the donation will go into UNT's adopt-a-faculty program, which sponsors faculty attendance at academic and industry-related conferences. Warner, a founding member of UNT's Hospitality Management Board of Governors in 1985, presented the check to the school July 27. "This demonstrates Ben E. Keith's ongoing involvement with UNT," Warner says. "One of our mission goals has been to support education with our time, our internships and our professional resources." The Ben E. Keith Scholarship began in 1984. Each year hospitality students receive $500 to $1,000 in scholarships. The Hospitality Board of Governors Scholarship began last year. UNT hospitality management students annually participate in 60 internships, and each year UNT produces 75 students who become members of the hospitality industry. "This gift is so much more than just money," saysJudith Forney, interim dean of the School of Merchandising and Hospitality Management. "Ben E. Keith brings its key people to our campus to prepare our students for the industry, and the company provides internships that so often turn into full-time positions for our students after graduation."
