Do you know that UNT owns a copy of a letter written and signed by Sam Houston, president of the Republic of Texas? The letter was to James H. Raymond, acting treasurer, and is dated Oct. 1, 1843, two years before Texas became the United States' 28th state. The letter is housed in the UNT Rare Book Room, on the fourth floor of Willis Library.
