George Foreman to speak at annual leadership lunch

George Foreman, who rose from a world of teenage street brawls to become boxing's heavyweight champion and a nationally recognized entrepreneur, will speak at the Green Mountain Dallas Leadership Luncheon at 11:30 a.m. Nov. 12 at the Hotel Inter-Continental in Addison. The annual luncheon is conducted in cooperation with the UNT Murphy Enterprise Center.

Tickets for the event are now available through Oct 13. Individual tickets are $175 each and tables of 10 are $1,500. To purchase tickets, call (940) 565-2844.

The luncheon targets entrepreneurs and business leaders and recognizes the achievements of budding entrepreneurs. This year the Murphy Award, presented for a lifetime of achievement in entrepreneurship, will be given to Ebby Halliday, who founded one of the largest and best-known privately owned residential real estate firms in the country — Ebby Halliday Realtors. The annual award is presented based on entrepreneurial spirit, integrity, leadership, and business and social responsibility.

Winners of the $30,000 Shirley Murphy Business Plan Contest will also be announced at the luncheon. Student-led teams from across Texas will be competing for cash awards of $15,000, $10,000 and $5,000 for first, second and third place, respectively, to fund their entrepreneurial ventures.
