Multimillion-dollar bequest creates new behavior analysis research program at UNT

UNT plans to establish a new research program in the Department of Behavior Analysis with a multimillion-dollar bequest from the Beatrice H. Barrett Endowment for Research in Neuro-Operant Relations. The exact amount of the bequest cannot be determined until the Barrett estate is settled.

UNT reaches all-time enrollment high for Fall 2003

According to the unofficial headcount after the 12th day of 2003 fall classes (Sept. 8), the UNT student population has climbed above the 31,000-student milestone to bring the highest fall enrollment numbers in the university's 113-year history 31,112 students.

Poet and essayist to speak at UNT Sept. 25

Patricia Hampl, whose essays and poetry reflect her Czech heritage, will read selections from her work at UNT Sept. 25.

Hampl's reading, which has been rescheduled from a date last spring, begins at 8 p.m. in the University Union Silver Eagle Suite. The reading, free and open to the public, will begin the 2003-04 Visiting Writer Series sponsored by the English department.

Music industry supports musicians' health initiatives

The UNT College of Music has secured $60,000 from organizations within the music industry including the National Academy of Recording Arts and Sciences, the organization that awards the Grammys to develop a nationally implemented health communication method for music schools across the country to inform college students about the health risks associated with music.

Interpretational change to holiday pay entitlement

A recent interpretation by UNT's Legal Affairs Office states that two provisions for holiday pay entitlement that were previously reported in InHouse as being applicable to UNT employees do not apply to higher education institutions. Therefore, UNT's human resources department says that the current policies and procedures will remain the same.
