UNT grieves, rallies support for victims of terrorism

Like most Americans, the UNT community will never forget Sept. 11, 2001.

As faculty, staff and students arrived on campus that morning, two hijacked planes slammed into the World Trade Center towers in Manhattan and the structures later collapsed, trapping and killing thousands. A third plane smashed into the side of the Pentagon, killing hundreds. A fourth plane crashed in a field about 80 miles from Pittsburgh, killing all aboard. The UNT System closed all three of its institutions at 11 a.m. to recognize the tragedy.

That day UNT posted a web page allowing community members to voice their feelings about the events. More than 100 people left messages during the first 24 hours the page was available. To read the comments, go to web2.unt.edu/paisweb/poll/viewall.cfm.
