Clinic to hold group sessions

UNT's Psychology Clinic will conduct a seven-week group therapy program in Oct. and Nov. for children with attention deficit/hyperactivity disorder.

Open to children ages 7 to 10, the program begins Monday, Oct. 2 and runs on Monday evenings from 6 to 7:30 p.m. through Nov. 13.

During the same days and times, the clinic will offer a group for the children's parents. Both groups will meet at the clinic on the first floor of Terrill Hall. The cost to participate in both groups is $45, which includes all materials for parents and children. A child does not need to have been medically diagnosed with ADHD to participate.

In the children's group, youngsters will learn social skills to help them control their behavior, such as following directions, accepting limits and staying calm. Participants in the parents' group will learn how to build communication, use effective discipline and improve relationships within the family.

To register, call Shelly Warren at 565-2631.
