Academic Kickoff gives high school students a dose of college experience

Hundreds of high school students will get a taste of UNT during the annual Academic Kickoff Sept. 11.

Students will attend workshops on admissions, financial aid, campus life and making the most of the college experience. They also will receive free admission to the UNT football game that night against Florida Atlantic.

The program is hosted by the UNT Office of Equity and Diversity and will be co-sponsored by Wells Fargo Bank and UNT Athletics. Damian Z. Hicks, coordinator of outreach and school relations, says the program seeks to show disadvantaged urban youth that a college education is important to their future and completely within their reach.
