Regents approve 2004 budget, 2 percent raise pool for faculty, staff

During this year's regular summer meeting of the UNT System Board of Regents on Aug. 21, the regents approved the FY 2004 budget for the university, increased tuition and two student fees and authorized Regents Professorships for seven faculty members.

UNT announces tuition task force, seeks to create guaranteed tuition rates

With the goal of making UNT the first Texas public university that gives its students a firm commitment on the cost of college, UNT System Chancellor Lee Jackson is creating a task force on tuition to study new options under the state's deregulated tuition law.

The task force would study various guaranteed tuition policies that could give UNT's continuing students the opportunity to graduate without any change in tuition cost or with predetermined limits.

UNT to petition Texas Education Agency for virtual charter school authority

Families of students across Texas who are looking for an alternative to traditional brick-and-mortar schools may soon have an online option to consider.

UNT will submit a Public Senior College/University Open Enrollment Charter School Application to the Texas Education Agency for discussion at its Sept. 12 meeting in Austin.

UNT Observatory to provide up-close view of Mars

UNT will sponsor an open house at the UNT Observatory on Sept. 6 for a public viewing of Mars from midnight to 2 a.m. The observatory is located at 9103 N. Locust St. (FM 2164), approximately five miles north of the campus.

UNT fans will notice some changes at Fouts Field Saturday at UNT's first home game of the season, namely the new scoreboard and videoboard at the south end of the field.

 

New Fouts Field scoreboard, videoboard to be finished in time for first home game

The athletics department will unveil a new scoreboard and videoboard at Fouts Field this fall as part of a major multimedia sponsorship plan. Major sponsors include Coca-Cola, Wells Fargo Bank and Denton Regional Medical Center. In addition to the Fouts Field scoreboard, phase 1 of the project includes a new video production truck, an aquatics scoreboard in the Student Recreation Center and enhancements to the concourse area at Fouts Field.

Agreement links UNT, Ukranian university

Scientists worldwide are expanding research on energy sources that don't pollute the environment. Cryogenic, or low temperature, substances like liquid nitrogen are one such source.

Cryogenic research has received a boost with the signing of an agreement of cooperation between UNT and a Ukranian university.

Dance, theatre arts tickets on sale soon

Season tickets for the 2003-04 dance and theatre arts productions will soon be on sale. From Sept. 8 to 22, new subscribers may purchase season ticket packages that include four shows for $30 for all faculty and staff members. UNT faculty and staff receive a 25 percent savings over the general public on individual productions, and season subscribers receive an additional 20 percent discount.
