Many Americans viewing television coverage of the Sept. 11 terrorist attacks on the World Trade Center may have assumed that the city and state of New York, other government organizations, and nonprofit organizations such as the Red Cross provided most of the emergency response and recovery following the disaster.

Regents rename Administration Building for Hurleys; approve emeritus appointments

In August, at Alfred F. Hurley's final UNT System Board of Regents meeting as system chancellor, the regents honored him and his wife, Johanna, by renaming the university Administration Building the Alfred F. and Johanna H. Hurley Administration Building.

UNT creates electronic conferencing laboratory

Large companies with several offices throughout the nation must conduct regular planning meetings to ensure that each site has the same information and that ideas are coordinated. A company may have to spend thousands of dollars on travel expenses and lose work time so managers and work teams can meet face to face. Teleconferencing is often not the answer, because a skilled facilitator with flip charts must lead the brainstorming and all participants of a teleconference cannot see the charts.
