Results:

In fall 2003, 31,065 students were enrolled at University of North Texas. The total workforce included 2,925 retirement eligible faculty and staff at the Denton campus. In fall 2003, 4,642 students were enrolled in only Dallas or on-line courses and thus, most likely did not travel to the Denton Campus on a regular basis. Including faculty and staff there were approximately 29,300 people who had reason to travel to and from the UNT Denton campus. It should be noted that another 482 people work at UNT as part-time employees. In addition, approximately 300,000 persons visit UNT every year.

The survey results indicated that approximately 42% of the students and 47% of faculty and staff are Denton residents. This would indicate that approximately 19,000 students, faculty, and staff were commuting from outside the City of Denton to attend classes or work sometime during the week.

Table 3 shows the Metroplex location for these students, faculty, and staff who returned the survey.
