Comments from the students and recent minutes from the UNT faculty senate indicate that the university should continue to research price sensitivity as it relates to the types of parking being utilized by commuting students. The change in the percent of students who are more accepting of e-trans system is dramatic (44% to 26%) in one year. In addition, living 20 miles or closer to UNT would help retain students. Thus, more housing and jobs in Denton could be significant factors in keeping students at UNT. Current Parking situation at UNT:The greatest portion of students (33%) indicated that they used the "Premium" parking spaces. The greatest portion of faculty and staff (76%) used "Faculty and Staff " Parking. Please see the table below for the parking summary for faculty, staff and students. Table 6 Item 26: Current Parking Situation
Ranking Payment Method:For students, the two most favorable methods of paying for an annual parking permit was in one payment and in two payments. For faculty and staff, the most favorable method was through monthly payroll deductions. Paying parking meters was the least favored for students (66%) and faculty/staff (83%). Thirty-six percent of the students favored single-semester parking permits which is consistent with the numerous comments from student respondents about having such an option. |
