Dr. John R. Todd

Interim Assoc. VP for Institutional Research & Accreditation

Email: todd@unt.edu

Phone: 940-565-2085

The Office of Institutional Research & Accreditation has two broad areas of responsibility, as its name suggests. Dr. Todd oversees the work of the office in both of these areas, supervising the Associate Director of Institutional Research who carries out the many aspects of gathering and analyzing information about the university, and directly managing the work involved in the area of accreditation for the university by the Commission on Colleges of the Southern Association of Schools and Colleges (SACS). Dr. Todd is responsible for filing reports to SACS on changes in university programs, and he is also responsible for managing the work that must be done to prepare for the university’s review by SACS as it undergoes a reaffirmation of its accreditation in 2006. As a part of keeping the university in compliance with the institutional effectiveness principles set forth by SACS, Dr. Todd leads a number of assessment activities. He coordinates the assessment of the university core and works with the University Core Oversight Committee to ensure that the core courses comply with state requirements and with the requirements of SACS. He also manages the Academic Program Review process, assessing the quality of programs in departments not accredited by an external accrediting body, and manages the Sunset Reviews of the university’s centers and institutes, assessing the effectiveness of these units. The Associate Vice President for Institutional Research & Accreditation reports directly to the Provost and Vice President for Academic Affairs.
