UNT Sponsored Scholarships of particular interest to international students

Texas Public Education Grant (TPEG)

Purpose: Texas Public Education Grant (TPEG) assists international students in financial need.

Field of Study: Open to all fields.

Eligibility: Any student AFTER one full year at UNT (or IELI and then UNT). NO GPA requirement because TPEG is need based.

Award: Up to $1000 (does not include out of state waiver).

Deadline: At the beginning of fall and spring semester. See application form.

Application: You can apply at Kendall Hall 103 or 151.  Click here for more information and to download the application form. Recipients of the TPEG scholarship will be notified within two weeks of their application via email.

Good Neighbor Scholarship

Purpose: Good Neighbour Scholarship

Field of Study: Open to all fields.

Eligibility: Western Hemisphere (Except U.S and Cuba) UNT Students with a minimum GPA of 2.0.

Award: Waives all tuition for the following Fall semester.

Deadline: Apply by February 15. The student must reapply each year.

Application: Eagle Student Services Center (ESSC) 228 (940-565-2302) 

International Education Committee Scholarship

Purpose: International Education Committee Scholarship is awarded to a UNT student.

Field of Study: Open to all fields.

Eligibility: Any UNT full-time international student or student actively involved in international activity. Student must have been enrolled for at least 2 full semesters before receiving award. A minimum GPA of 3.0 for undergraduates and 3.5 for graduates is required.

Award: $1000, which will qualify the recipient for in-state tuition.

Deadline: April 22

Multicultural Scholastic Award

Purpose: Scholarship to support a UNT student of good academic standing.

Field of Study: Open to all fields.

Eligibility: Any UNT full-time student with a minimum GPA of 3.0.

Award: $1000 - $ 4000, which will qualify the recipient for in-state tuition. The award will be effective in the Fall and Spring of the following year.

Deadline: Apply as early as possible. Deadline is March 31.

Application: Contact the Office of Equity and Diversity-Hurley Admin. Building 175 (940-565-2456). Applicants are notified by mid-April.

Eagle Ambassador Award

Purpose: To support UNT students through a scholarship and a campus job as an Eagle Ambassador. The ambassadors give weekly campus tours and are trained in areas such as UNT history and traditions, campus activities and general information about the university.

Field of Study: Open to all fields.

Eligibility: Any UNT full-time student who has completed 15 hours. A minimum GPA of 2.75 is required.

Award: $1500 per academic year, which qualifies the student for in-state tuition, and $7.50 per hour on the job.

Deadline: Apply by March.

Graduate Student Council Scholarships

Purpose: To provide UNT graduate students with tuition support.

Field of Study: Open to all fields.

Eligibility: Any student enrolled for at least six semester hours of graduate credit at UNT. Additionally, candidates must be members of the UNT Graduate Student Council.

Award: $ 1000 per academic year. Six scholarships will be awarded in 2005.

Deadline:  Varies. Check the website.
