Reading and Study Skills Lab

RASSL Schedule

Session begins the week of February 1

The Reading & Study Skills Lab (RASSL) offers academic support through small, fun classes that allow for active participation and discussion depending on your personal needs. RASSL covers topics such as:

RASSL classes meet once a week (90 minutes) for five weeks. Two five week sessions are offered in the fall and spring semester and one (1) four week session during the summer term. There is a $20 fee for materials. Contact the Learning Center to register.

Speed Reading

Speed Reading Schedule

Get more out of your reading while creating more free time for yourself! The Speed Reading Program is designed to help you increase your reading speed while maintaining or improving comprehension and retention. In-class instruction and participation are combined with speed reading computer programs to increase the efficiency and effectiveness of your reading. Topics covered include:

Learning Success Workshops

Learning Success Workshops offer academic support through interactive presentations on a rotating schedule. Each workshop is free for UNT students and is designed to foster academic achievement. Students do not need to pre-register for a workshop.

Academic Success Program

The Academic Success Program offers special populations with academic support through interactive workshops and individual meetings throughout the semester. Currently this program works with students on Academic Alert or Academic Probation as well as the Deferred Scholars Program and the Emerald Eagle Scholars Program. The Academic Success Program also offers a section tailored to the specific needs of Veteran students, providing them with the support and resources necessary for achieving their academic pursuits. Preregistration is required to attend the workshop series. To sign up for a workshop time please call the Learning Center at (940) 369-7006.

The process:

  1. Contact the Learning Center to sign up for a starting date and time.
  2. Attend four workshops, once a week during your sign up time.
  3. Schedule and meet individually with an academic coordinator.

Connecting for Success

Connecting for Success is designed to facilitate student success in the classroom by creating connections between students and their academic resources on campus. Students in the program have the opportunity to engage in a variety of activities tailored to their needs, including RASSL classes and FREE tutoring. Students may be self-referred to the program or be referred by a faculty member or advisor.
