MBA Electronic Degree Plan With Logistics Emphasis

This page contains the electronic degree plan for selecting your MBA Breadth and Professional Field (Marketing) courses when choosing an emphasis in logistics. Prior to filing your electronic degree plan you should have filled out the degree plan worksheet. If you have not already done so, you may wish to return to the degree plan worksheet before proceeding further.

Your program will consist of the standard MBA Breadth courses plus a series of courses drawn primarily from the Marketing Department that emphasize a variety of logistics topics.  Your options for elective courses with a logistics degree plan are limited to those indicated on the work sheet below.   Simply enter your selected courses directly into the form below and it will be forwarded to the MBA advisor.  As you structure your degree plan, bear in mind that the MBA Breadth (Core) and Professional Field courses you have selected must total at least 36 hours.  Deficiency or leveling courses may increase the number of required hours beyond the 36.

Additional questions and comments can be directed to Dr. Lou Pelton via e-mail.

Deficiency or Background Courses

If you do not have an undergraduate degree in Business, or if your undergraduate business program was deficient, you may need to take a series of background courses that prepare you for higher-level MBA course-work. These courses are taken in addition to the 36 hours that comprise your MBA degree. Prior to beginning your MBA work at UNT, the MBA coordinator (Ms. Denise Galubenski) evaluated your transcripts to determine which leveling (deficiency) courses you must take, if any. Based on this evaluation, you should have been mailed (or will be mailed) a degree plan work sheet that lists these leveling courses on the left-hand side. The courses that may appear on the left side are listed below.  Please check all courses that are listed as deficiencies.

MKTG 5000 Marketing Concepts (1.5 hrs)
MSCI 5010 Statistical Analysis (1.5 hrs)
ACCT 5020 Accumulation and Analysis of Accounting Data (1.5 hrs)
BLAW 5050 Legal and Ethical Environment of Business (1.5 hrs)
MGMT 5070 Management Concepts (1.5 hrs)
BCIS 5090 Computer Based Information Systems (1.5 hrs)
ECON 5000 Economic Concepts (3 hrs)
Don't Know I'm not sure what are my deficiencies

If you feel that you have been inappropriately asked to take one or more deficiency courses, use the "comments on leveling courses" below to request a waiver from the MBA advisor. Be sure and provide complete details, including course names, numbers, and descriptions (as they appear in the catalog from the University in which you originally took the course). A copy of the syllabus you used in the course would help considerably with the evaluation.  The syllabus and other materials that cannot be emailed can be faxed to the Marketing MBA Program Director (Dr. Pelton) at (940)565-3837.  You may be required to fax additional information, depending on circumstances.

Comments on Leveling Courses:

MBA Breadth (Core) Courses

You must take the following "core" or "breadth" courses. They have already been checked for you. However, if you majored in marketing at the undergraduate level, you do not need to take MKTG 5150. You may substitute another marketing elective for this course. If you are in this situation, simply "uncheck" the MKTG 5150 box and "check" a substitute a course in the "Professional Field" area below.

You also can substitute (transfer) up to six hours (two courses) from another AACSB accredited institution for courses in the core and/or professional field areas.  However, I strongly recommend that you take all of your professional field courses at UNT.  If you are transferring hours from another institution, uncheck the appropriate course(s) below and provide justification comments in the 'comments' box at the bottom of this form.  Your justification comments should include the course name, course number, and the name of the college or university at which the course was taken.  I will verify each course with Ms. Galubenski before finalizing your degree plan.

[Note: If you were an undergraduate marketing major, you must add one additional logistics or management elective which will substitute for MKTG 5150 Marketing Management.  Since MKTG 5150 is part of the MBA Breadth or Core, the extra professional field elective is necessary to keep the total hours in your program at 36.]
