FREE SERVICES FOR UNT STUDENTS

Student service

The Student Money Management Center provides personal financial and money management education to students. In addition to seminars and presentations, we provide confidential individual financial consultations and planning services. All of our services are free for UNT students. 

At the Student Money Management Center, you can: 

  • Talk to trained professionals and peers about your personal finances 
  • Learn how to establish and manage credit 
  • Create a financial survival plan for college 
  • Understand your credit report and credit score
  • Plan for tuition and fee payments 
  • Research housing options
  • Planning for expenses during or after college
  • Compare future employer benefits packages
  • Graduate with a plan for repaying your debt

There are certain services the Student Money Management Center will not provide:

  • Investment advice
  • Contacting creditors
  • Selection of financial institution
  • Selection of financial planning services
  • Retirement planning
  • Tax advice and preparation

The Student Money Management Center is committed to creating and maintaining a culture of financial empowerment among the student body through knowledge sharing, educational opportunities, personal consultations, and emergency financial support.

Free Skills Workshops, Seminars and Clinics
The Student Money Management Center sponsors FREE workshops, seminars and clinics covering a wide variety of personal financial and money management topics. Some of the workshops are based in theory, some are based in methodology - but all of the training opportunities include plenty of tips and strategies that students can apply to their personal financial situations. All educational opportunities are open to all members of the UNT community.

Interested in having a Student Money Management Center speaker for your class, group or student organization? The Student Money Management Center hosts a speakers bureau known as the In the Green Speakers.

Requests for a presentation by an In the Green Speaker can be placed by contacting the Center's administrative office at 940.369.7761 or sending an email inquiry to moneymanagement@unt.edu. Please submit requests no later than 10 to 15 business days prior to the intended presentation date.

Presentations are excellent introductions to personal financial planning topics; such as goal setting, organizing finances, creating a budget, cash and credit management, insurance, student loan debt retirement, housing options, and job offers.
