Who's taking the stage?
The finalists who will compete at the North Texas Battle of the Bands are:
• Stalled
Five of the six finalists were chosen by judges, and one -- The September Days -- was chosen by popular vote.
The bands consist of three to eight members, and all members ages range from 13 to 20. At least 75 percent of the band members must be enrolled in high school.
The concert includes a performance by former UNT music student Rhett Butler, well known for playing two guitars at once.
Audience participation required
Fans can attend the Feb. 29 performance to cheer for their favorite bands. The band with the loudest fan base will earn an extra vote, which will be tallied with the judges' votes.
Prizes up for grabs
In addition to winning a recording session aboard the bus, each member of the top band will receive an Apple iPod Shuffle. The top band also earns free entry into the John Lennon Songwriting Contest with the opportunity to win the Songwriting Contest grand prize of $20,000.
The winner of the North Texas Battle of the Bands will compete in the John Lennon Educational Tour Bus National Battle of the Bands, in which the band could win a spot performing on its local Warped Tour stage.
All six finalists are eligible to perform at Taste Addison, a festival held May 9-11.
