Denton Community Food Center Drive
The UNT Department of Human Resources, Staff Council, and Faculty Senate Executive Committee are jointly sponsoring a food drive through Sept. 16 benefiting the Denton Community Food Center.
The Denton Community Food Center has issued an appeal for donations of food and money to support their local effort to provide temporary food assistance - including assistance to survivors of Hurricane Katrina and to their extended family members in the area who have taken them into their homes.

Donate Blood
Carter Blood Care will be on campus Oct. 31, Nov. 1, Nov. 3 and Nov. 4. You can donate blood at the University Union Golden Eagle Suite between 8 a.m. and 6 p.m. each day. If you would like to donate sooner, you can call Carter Blood Care at 1.800.DONATE4 to schedule an appointment, go online to sign up for one of their local blood drives, or stop by the University Courtyard Apartments on Sept. 26. The UC is hosting a blood drive from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. in the clubhouse. Contact Karen Raabe for information, 940.898.1778.
University Courtyard Apartments supply drive
The apartment group has pledged a long-term drive for both relief workers and people who have relocated to the North Texas area. Information on health kits, flood buckets and other items needed for hurricane relief efforts.
Computer Support Volunteers Needed
The City of Fort Worth's information technology department is working with FEMA to set up systems and networks for those people who have been relocated due to the Katrina and they need volunteers. They ask for both network managers and computer support specialists with A+ certifications and Win2k or XP experience as soon as possible for sites in Fort Worth. Donations can be made at any Operation Eagle collection site on campus
All proceeds will benefit the American Red Cross in their efforts to aid the victims of this tragedy. Operation Eagle is collaboration among UNT Students, Office of the President, Division of Student Development, Residence Life, Division of University Relations, Communications and Marketing and Athletics.

Student Government office sells pin
A commemorative pin is available through the Student Government office, University Union Room 216B, 940.565.3850. Donations of $5 are requested. Proceeds will go to the American Red Cross.
Honors College holds food drive for North Texas Food Bank
Bring items to the Honors College Reading Room, GAB 301, Sept. 6-9. Here are the items that are most needed:
- Bottled water (no glass containers)
- Granola, energy bars, cereal bars and other hand-held snack items
- Jerky, peanut butter, canned tuna, canned beans and other protein items
- Hearty soups, stews, chili, pasta and other canned meals
- Paper plates, cups, utensils, paper towels, toilet paper
- Diapers, personal hygiene products, rubber gloves, trash bags

UNT raises $22,312 so far
With a goal of raising $32,000 toward Hurricane Relief, UNT raised $22,312 during the Pep Rally on Friday, the football team’s open practice Saturday and by student athletes who were stationed across campus Thursday, Friday and Saturday.

Help Displaced Pets
UNT Feral Cat Rescue Group and Campus Cat Coalition are collecting money to send to groups in the disaster area helping to rescue and care for the pets that were left behind. Bring donations to Nancy Kelly, Art Room 111, or Janet Feagans, Registrar's Office, Eagle Student Services Center Room 206. They cannot accept non-monetary donations.
